CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Atlantic Coast Conference wrestling enters the upcoming week with significant momentum, as four programs prepare for key non-conference competitions between December 11-17.
This week is highlighted by a pair of top-25 matchups on Friday, December 12, as No. 9 NC State travels to Columbus for a highly anticipated showdown with No. 2 Ohio State, while No. 22 North Carolina hosts No. 17 West Virginia in Chapel Hill.
No. 16 Pitt continues its challenging non-conference slate with a Saturday road test at Maryland.
The week concludes with midweek action on Wednesday, December 17, when Duke hosts in-state rival Appalachian State at 6 p.m. ET.
Teams in the ACC have opened the 2025-26 dual season with strong early-season form, collectively posting a 30-12 overall record. North Carolina leads the way with a perfect 5-0 start, while Pitt sits at 5-1 with its lone loss coming on the road against No. 3 Iowa. NC State and Virginia have each won three straight duals to improve to 5-2, Duke stands at 5-3 and Virginia Tech enters the week at 4-2.

- The ACC again had five teams ranked in the top 25 of the NWCA Division I Men's Wrestling Coaches Poll (Dec. 9): Virginia Tech (No. 7), NC State (No. 9), Pitt (No. 16), North Carolina (No. 22) and Stanford (No. 23).
- The conference once again boasts elite individual talent — 42 ACC wrestlers appear in the InterMat Individual Rankings (Dec. 8), landing in the top 33 of their respective weight classes. Six weight classes feature five or more ranked ACC athletes, signaling broad, top-to-bottom strength at 125, 133, 141, 165, 174 and heavyweight (285).
- The 2026 ACC Wrestling Championship heads to Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia, on Sunday, March 8, 2026, marking Virginia Tech’s first time hosting since 2019.
- The 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Wrestling Championships will be held at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, from March 19-21, 2026.
