Pitt's Babcock Named Back-to-Back AVCA Division I Player of the Year

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Pitt right-side hitter and three-time AVCA First-Team All-American Olivia Babcock was named the 2025 AVCA Division I Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, the AVCA announced on Friday, December 19.
 
The Los Angeles, California, native helped lead the Panthers to their 10th straight NCAA Volleyball Championship appearance, sixth straight regional final and fifth straight national semifinal. Babcock finished the regular season with 545 kills, 5.00 kills per set, 235 digs, 110 total blocks and 35 service aces.
 
In the Panthers’ 2025 NCAA Volleyball Championship run, the 2025 ACC Volleyball Player of the Year and First-Team All-ACC selection totaled 101 kills and 6.31 kills per set, while recording 26 digs and 16 total blocks defensively. In the national semifinal alone, Babcock registered 22 kills on a .463 hitting percentage and had six total blocks.
 
Babcock is just the fifth player in NCAA Women’s Volleyball history, and the first since 2018, to win the AVCA National Player of the Year Award more than once.
