CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC/com) - In the week seven set of weekly honors for the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Gymnastics season, California’s Maddie Williams was named the ACC Gymnast of the Week. NC State’s Chloe Negrete was tabbed the Specialist of the Week, while North Carolina’s JoJo Valahovic was named the Newcomer of the Week.
Williams was named ACC Gymnast of the Week after three first-place finishes, including a share of the All-Around title last weekend in the meet versus >>>>>. The senior out of Vacaville, California, placed second in floor with a 9.925, earned a share of the first-place title in beam (9.875) and the all-around (39.475), and the outright win in bars with a 9.925. Both her all-around and floor scores were season highs.
Negrete was named the ACC Specialist of the Week for the third time this season. The Frisco, Texas, native earned a season-high score of 9.925 on floor to secure a share of the first-place title. Negrete’s floor routine helped seal the team’s meet win over Clemson. She now leads the Pack with 14 podium finishes, including five first-place showings.
Valahovic was named ACC Newcomer of the Week for the third consecutive week. The Tar Heel freshman won two events in the win over Pitt. She won vault with a score of 9.900 and beam with a score of 9.950, setting career highs in both, to help lead North Carolina to a season-high 49.35 overall beam score. Valahovic is one of four gymnasts in the ACC to record a league-leading 9.95 on beam, and the only freshman to do so. The freshman is also one of nine gymnasts – and the only rookie – in the ACC to have scored a 9.9+ on vault. Valahovic leads all Tar Heels with team-high scores on vault (9.9) and beam (9.95).
