CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke sophomore midfielder Benn Johnston earned Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honors, and North Carolina sophomore faceoff specialist Brady Wambach was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week for games played from February 24-March 2.
 
Johnston had a pair of fabulous showings for the Blue Devils, finishing with seven goals, three assists, 10 points and zero turnovers. On Friday against No. 8 Princeton, the native of Lake Forest, Illinois, scored a career-high five goals as Duke fell to the Tigers, 15-14. The five goals matched his total in the previous four games combined. On Sunday against No. 14 Penn, Johnston had two goals and two assists to pace the Blue Devils to an 11-6 win over the Quakers. His 10 points on the weekend were double what he had in the first four games of the year combined.
 
In the win over No. 14 Penn on Friday, Wambach won 15 of 20 faceoffs while collecting eight ground balls. On Sunday versus No. 8 Princeton, the native of Pittsford, New York, won 21 faceoffs, and added nine ground balls. The 21-faceoff win effort was a career best for Wambach and the fourth most in program history. During the two games this weekend, he won a combined 36 faceoffs, the most in a two-game stretch during his career.
 
Four ACC teams are ranked in the latest USILA Coaches poll, led by Notre Dame at No. 2 and North Carolina at No. 6. Duke is No. 8, while Syracuse is No. 11.
 
Five non-conference games are scheduled this weekend, including a pair of matchups of ranked teams. Notre Dame plays host to No. 15 Ohio State on Saturday, March 8, at 2 p.m. ET on ACC Network. Syracuse entertains No. 7 Johns Hopkins on Sunday, March 9, at 2 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
