CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - The 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference softball season continues Wednesday, March 4, as Virginia, Florida State, Duke, Boston College, North Carolina, California and Clemson will all hit the field for midweek contests.
Conference action officially kicks off this Friday, March 7, with 14 of the 15 ACC teams going head-to-head with each other. Pitt will take on North Carolina, Boston College will take on California, NC State will take on Georgia Tech, Duke will take on Clemson, Notre Dame will take on Louisville, Virginia will take on Virginia Tech and Syracuse will take on Stanford.
This week’s 35-game stretch is highlighted by four ranked matchups – two conference games between No. 18 Virginia Tech and No. 23 Virginia, and two non-conference games between No. 9 Florida State and No. 12 Oregon.
The ACC collected three ranked wins last week, highlighted by two unranked teams taking down top-25 opponents in unranked Clemson over No. 11 on Wednesday, February 26, and unranked Notre Dame over No. 23 San Diego State on Friday, February 28. No. 17 Virginia Tech defeated No. 24 Liberty on Wednesday, February 26 in the sole ranked matchup win last week.
Five ACC teams were ranked in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25, led by No. 9 Florida State. Joining the Seminoles are Duke at No. 16, Virginia Tech at No. 18, Stanford at No. 20 and Virginia at No. 23.

- North Carolina’s Kat Rodriguez was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, while her teammate Kenna Raye Dark was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week honors following the fourth week of the 2025 softball season.
- The ACC leads the nation in the following team stats across the NCAA:
- Shutouts – Virginia Tech, 11 (four-week streak)
- Slugging Percentage – Stanford, 0.722 (three-week streak)
- Triples – Virginia, 18 (two-week streak)
- The ACC leads the nation in the following individual stats across the NCAA:
- Triples – Kennedy Harp (Florida State), 7

- Nine ACC softball players were named to the USA Softball Top 53 Watch List for the 2025 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, USA Softball announced on Wednesday, January 22. Among the list are Florida State’s Julia Apsel, Jaysoni Beachum, Michaela Edenfield and Isa Torres, Duke’s Aminah Vega, Cassidy Curd and D’Auna Jennings, and Virginia Tech’s Emma Lemley and Bre Peck.
