CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - The Atlantic Coast Conference had 11 gymnasts named to the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) All-American teams.
The WCGA uses National Qualifying Scores (NQS) to determine first and second teams. First-Team All-America is awarded to the top eight (8) finishers, plus ties, of the NCAA regular season for all four (4) events plus the all-around. Second-Team All-America is awarded to the ninth through 16th place finishers, plus ties, of the NCAA regular season for all four (4) events plus the all-around.
California led the way with six All-American honorees, highlighted by Mya Lauzon on the first team for all-around and floor, and second team on bars and beam. The Golden Bears’ Madelyn Williams was the only other ACC gymnast to land on more than one team, garnering first-team laurels in bars and second-team recognition in the all-around.
Stanford had three gymnasts named to the second team in Anna Roberts (vault), Ui Soma (bars) and Brenna Neault (beam). North Carolina and NC State each had one gymnast in the mix in the Tar Heels’ Lali Dekanoidze on the first team on bars and the Wolfpack’s Chloe Negrete to the second team for beam.
