Stanford Wins 2025 ACC Men’s Tennis Championship Title

CARY, N.C. (theACC.com) – The No. 8 nationally ranked Stanford Cardinal won the program's first-ever Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Championship title on Sunday, April 20, with a 4-2 win over the No. 6 nationally ranked Virginia Cavaliers in the championship match at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina.

Stanford, which joined the ACC along with California and SMU when the conference expanded this summer, won the ACC title in the program's first year in the league.

The Cardinal's Max Basing was named the ACC Championship Most Valuable Player.

Making its sixth consecutive appearance in the championship match, No. 5-seed Virginia (20-7, 9-4 ACC) took an early 1-0 match lead over No. 3-seed Stanford (22-5, 10-3 ACC) by taking the doubles point with wins on court two from No. 23 Keegan Rice and James Hopper and court three from Rafael Jodar and Roy Horovitz.

Stanford tied the match up at 1-1 with a win by default on court one to start singles action before pushing the lead to 3-1 with back-to-back wins from Alex Razeghi and Henry von der Schulenberg on courts five and four, respectively.

Virginia fought back to cut the lead to one at 3-2 with a victory from No. 26 Dylan Dietrich on court two, yet it wasn't enough as Stanford's No. 95 Basing closed the match out with a win on court three to propel the Cardinal to the 4-2 match win.

Sunday marked the Cavaliers' 21st appearance in the ACC championship match, while it was the first for the Cardinal.
