CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Nine Atlantic Coast Conference men's tennis teams earned bids into the 2025 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship, it was announced by the NCAA on Monday, April 28.
The nine teams are the most since the ACC had nine teams in both 2021 and 2022, and one shy of the league record of 10 teams in 2007 and 2015.
Five teams in Wake Forest (No. 1), Stanford (No. 4), Virginia (No. 7), Stanford (No. 9) and California (No. 11) earned a top-16 seed and will host in the first round of the NCAA Championship on May 2-4.
- No. 1 seed Wake Forest (34-1) – 2025 ACC Regular Season Champion; 24th appearance overall and 12th straight trip to the NCAA Championship
- No. 4 seed Stanford (22-5) – 2025 ACC Champion; 45th appearance overall and 17th consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship
- No. 7 seed Virginia (20-7) – 26th appearance overall and 21st consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship
- No. 9 seed NC State (20-6) – 15th appearance overall and seventh straight in the NCAA Championship
- No. 11 seed California (18-4) – 39th appearance overall and second trip to the NCAA Championship since 2021
- Clemson (21-7) – 25th appearance overall and first trip to the NCAA Championship since 2014
- Duke (18-8) – 32nd appearance overall and fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship
- Florida State (18-8) – 24th appearance overall and fourth straight trip to the NCAA Championship
- Miami (13-10) – 29th appearance overall and first trip to the NCAA Championship since 2022
Of the last 11 NCAA Championships played, not counting the 2020 championship canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, seven have been won by a team from the ACC. Virginia won the NCAA title in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2022 and 2023, while Wake Forest won in 2018.
Overall, Virginia has won six national titles, while Wake Forest has won one. First-year ACC member Stanford has won 15 NCAA team titles, with the most coming in 2000.
As part of a two-year pilot program, the men’s singles and doubles championships were conducted in the fall of 2024, while the team championships will take place in the spring of 2025.
First and second rounds of play are slated for May 2-5, followed by super regionals on May 9-11. The final rounds will be played from May 16-18 at Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
