Virginia Wins First-Ever 2025 ACC Men’s Golf Championship

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (theACC.com) – Coming down to the final match of the day, junior Bryan Lee won 2UP to seal Virginia’s first-ever title at the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golf Championship Monday afternoon at The Club at Olde Stone.

With the win, the Cavaliers clinch the ACC’s automatic bid into regional play of the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship. Along with Virginia, multiple ACC teams will await the Selection Show, which airs live on Golf Channel on Wednesday, April 30, at 1 p.m. ET. Following Regionals, the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship is scheduled for May 23-28 at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California.

In a matchup of the top two seeds, Virginia’s Paul Chang put the Cavaliers on the scoreboard first with a 2&1 victory over UNC freshman Sihan Sandhu, sealing his match by winning the No. 16 and No. 17 holes. Chang’s win was his second match-play victory of the week, bouncing back from a loss to Clemson’s Kian Ross in the semifinals.

After UNC’s David Ford edged UVA’s Josh Duangmanee, 1UP, to even the score, North Carolina took its first lead when freshman Grant Roscich upset Ben James 3&2. Roscich had been subbed into the match-play final after sitting out of the semifinal round.

Facing a 2-1 deficit, senior Deven Patel evened up the match by holding off UNC’s Keaton Vo, 1UP. Patel led 3UP at the turn and held off Vo’s comeback effort in the final nine holes. With the win, Patel was the lone UVA player to finish 3-0 throughout match play.

With the match even at 2-2, Lee reached the green in two while North Carolina’s Maxwell Ford missed the green in regulation. Also clinching UVA’s semifinal win over Clemson on Sunday, Lee parred the final hole to clinch the title for Virginia.

Virginia becomes the 11th different institution to win the ACC Men’s Golf title and the first first-time winner since Florida State in 2008.
