This Weekend in ACC Baseball

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) -- As the Atlantic Coast Conference begins the final weekend of the baseball regular season, six teams remain in contention for the regular-season championship. Florida State leads the ACC with a 16-8 record in ACC play. NC State (16-9), Georgia Tech (17-10), North Carolina (16-10), Duke (16-11) and Virginia (14-10) all remain alive in the hunt for the ACC regular-season title in what should be one of the most exciting finishes to a season in recent memory.
 
No. 2 Florida State will host No. 4 North Carolina for a top-five showdown to close the regular season. The Seminoles and Tar Heels, both of whom competed in the Men’s College World Series last season, will look to finish the season on a high note. The first two games of the series will be televised on ACC Network, beginning at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, May 15, and Friday, May 16. The series finale will begin on Saturday, May 17, will begin at 2 p.m. ET on ACC Network Extra.
 
NC State, who is ranked No. 13 in the D1Baseball Top 25, will host Stanford as the regular season draws to a close. All three games between the Wolfpack and Cardinal will be streamed on ACCNX, with the series opener on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.
 
Georgia Tech will finish the regular season at No. 20 Duke, starting at 6 p.m. ET on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets and Blue Devils will finish the regular season with a televised contest on ACC Network, beginning at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday. Both teams enter the final weekend of the regular season in contention for a double-bye in the ACC Baseball Championship in addition to holding hopes for a regular-season title.
 
Virginia will travel to Virginia Tech for the final weekend of the season as the in-state rivals meet for the Commonwealth Clash. All three contests between the Cavaliers and Hokies will be broadcast on ACCNX, beginning at 6 p.m. ET on Thursday. Both teams remain hopeful to claim an NCAA Tournament bid entering the crucial weekend set. The series finale between Virginia and Virginia Tech will be the final regular season game throughout the ACC, slated for 4 p.m. ET on Saturday.

  • Entering the weekend, Florida State (1), NC State (2), Georgia Tech (3) and North Carolina (4) would earn double-byes in the 2025 ACC Baseball Championship as the top-four seeds, if the season ended today. The ACC Championship moves to a 16-team, single-elimination format for the 2025 season.
  • As of May 14, 12 of the ACC’s 16 teams rank inside the top 50 of RPI, including five teams in the top 25.
  • Entering the weekend, 12 ACC teams rank inside the top 50 of the Diamond Sports Rankings, including five teams in the top 25.

  • The ACC had 10 players named to the Dick Howser Trophy semifinalists list, which ranks second among all conferences.
  • The ACC had 12 players named to the 45-man Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List, which ranks second among all conferences. Florida State and Wake Forest led the league with three honorees each.
  • Nine ACC shortstops were named to the Brooks Wallace Award Midseason Watch List, which ranks second among all conferences.
  • D1Baseball named 10 ACC standouts to its midseason All-America teams, including eight on the first team. Florida State’s Alex Lodise was also named Midseason National Player of the Year by D1Baseball, while Virginia Tech’s Sam Tackett was tabbed as the Midseason National Breakout Star.
  • Perfect Game named 12 ACC student-athletes to their Midseason All-America teams, including seven on the first team. PG also pegged six ACC standouts as Midseason Freshman All-Americans.
  • Georgia Tech’s Danny Hall announced his plans to retire following the 2025 season ahead of the Jackets’ series vs. Clemson. Hall has logged 1,448 career victories, which ranks ninth in Division I history.
