CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Eight Atlantic Coast Conference softball student-athletes were named to the 2025 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-America teams, the association announced on Wednesday, May 28.
Florida State and Stanford had two selections apiece while Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech each had one athlete named to the prestigious list.
Earning a spot on the First Team were Clemson’s Maddie Moore (2B), Florida State’s Isa Torres (SS) and Virginia Tech’s Cori McMillan (OF).
Moore earned her second consecutive All-America honor after setting a single-season program record for RBIs with 71 for the Tigers. The senior hit .411 at the plate with 79 hits (32 extra-base), 17 home runs, 148 total bases and a .771 slugging percentage. At second base, Moore recorded 103 putouts and 90 assists with nine double plays this season.
Torres set the single-season Seminoles’ batting average record with a .436 average on the year while finishing third in program history for most hits in a single season with 95. She is the first Seminole to be named to the NFCA First-Team since Sydney Sherrill in 2019. After finishing the season with 45 RBIs and nine home runs, Torres led the ACC in both batting average and hits.
McMillan had the best offensive single season in Hokies history on her way to being named a First-Team All-American and garnering her second consecutive All-America honor after being named to the second team in 2024. The ACC Player of the Year closed out the season as the nation’s leader in home runs with 31 – one of just nine players in NCAA Division I Softball history to hit 31 in a single season. Outside of leading the nation and the conference in home runs, McMillan also led the ACC in runs scored with 75.
The Second Team is highlighted by Stanford’s River Mahler (SS), Florida State’s Kennedy Harp (OF) and Virginia’s Jade Hylton (SS).
Mahler led the Cardinal in batting average (.429), hits (76) and total bases (127) to earn a spot on the NFCA Division I Softball Second-Team. Her batting average was fifth in the ACC and sixth in program history. Mahler started at shortstop in 54 of 55 games for the Cardinal, posting 72 assists and 87 putouts while turning nine double plays.
Despite closing out the year early with a season-ending injury, Harp still led the nation in both triples with 10 – just one shy of breaking the Florida State Softball record - and triples per game (0.20). She finished the season hitting .412 with 10 home runs and 49 RBIs while leading the team with a .765 slugging percentage.
Hylton is now the fourth player in Virginia history to earn NFCA All-America honors and the first since 2019. Hylton had a historic season for the Cavaliers, breaking both the single-season program record for home runs (19) and the program record for career home runs (43). She also set the single-season record for runs scored (64), total bases (142), slugging percentage (.802) and extra-base hits (35).
The Third Team features North Carolina’s Kat Rodriguez (2B) and Stanford’s Emily Jones (OF).
Rodriguez recorded one of the best single seasons in Tar Heel history to help claim a spot on the NFCA Division I Softball Third-Team. She became the first softball player to win ACC Player of the Week honors four times in one season and tied the ACC single-season record for RBIs with 83 to land on the All-ACC First-Team. Her 83 RBIs broke the UNC program record while her 57 runs moved up to second. Rodriguez is the first Tar Heel to earn All-America honors since Kendra Lynch in 2017.
Jones started in center field in all 55 Cardinal games, recording 77 putouts and a pair of assists. The junior had just one error the entire season, racking up a .988 fielding percentage. Jones hit .413 at the plate – top 10 in the ACC – with 111 total bases, 74 hits, 36 RBIs, 10 doubles and nine home runs.
