CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Four Atlantic Coast Conference men’s tennis teams — No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 4 Stanford, No. 7 Virginia, and No. 9 NC State — will be in action this weekend, May 9-10, at the super regionals of the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship.
Winners of the super regional matches will advance to the NCAA Championship quarterfinals, with the final rounds scheduled for May 16–18 at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
No. 1-seed Wake Forest (36-1) improved to 22-0 at home this season with 4-1 victories over Gardner-Webb and Kentucky last weekend at the Winston-Salem Regional. The Demon Deacons have reached the super regionals eight times since 2015, including three of the past four seasons. Wake Forest also extended the program record for wins in a season after surpassing the previous record of 34 victories by the 2019 team with Friday night's victory over Gardner-Webb.
The Demon Deacons will host No. 16-seed Texas A&M (18-10) in the super regionals on Friday, May 9, at 5 p.m. ET. The Aggies posted a 4-2 win over Rice and a 4-3 victory over Baylor to advance to the super regionals. Overall, Wake Forest is 2-8 all-time versus Texas A&M on the tennis courts, with the two teams last meeting in 2018.
Undefeated this season at home at the Arrillaga Tennis Center-Taube Pavilion, No. 4-seed Stanford (24-5) cruised through its regional last weekend with a pair of 4-0 shutouts over New Mexico and Pepperdine to reach its fourth consecutive super regional.
The 2025 ACC Champions will host No. 13-seed South Carolina (21-7) on Friday, May 9, at 3 p.m. ET, which defeated VCU and Florida State in the Columbia Regional. Stanford is 4-2 all-time versus South Carolina in men’s tennis dual-match action, with the two teams having last met in 2022.
No. 7-seed Virginia (22-7) did not drop a point in the Charlottesville Regional, posting back-to-back 4-0 sweeps over Bucknell and Princeton at home last weekend. With the two wins, Virginia advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 for the 19th time over the last 20 championships.
The Cavaliers will host No. 10-seed Arizona (26-4) on Saturday, May 10, at 1 p.m. ET. Arizona beat both Denver and Harvard in the Tucson Regional and enters the super regionals on an 11-match winning streak. This will be the first meeting between Virginia and Arizona in men’s tennis action. The Wildcats won the Big 12 Championship title in their first year in the league this season.
No. 9-seed NC State (22-6) advanced out of the Raleigh Regional with a 4-0 win over South Carolina State and a 4-1 win over Georgia last weekend. The Wolfpack advanced to the NCAA Super Regional round for the third time overall (2007, 2022, 2025) and the second time under head coach Kyle Spencer.
The Wolfpack will travel to face No. 8-seed Columbia (19-4) in New York on Saturday, May 10, at 1 p.m. ET. The Lions defeated Binghamton and Clemson in the New York City Regional to move on to the super regionals. NC State is 0-2 all-time versus Columbia, including suffering a 4-1 loss to the Lions back on February 2 in New York. The other meeting between the two teams was last year, a 4-3 win for Columbia at NC State on February 4, 2024.
As part of a two-year pilot program, the men’s singles and doubles championships were held in the fall of 2024, while the team championships remain in the spring season.
