Florida State Defeats Georgia Tech to Secure a Spot in 2025 ACC Championship Semifinals

BRIGHTON, Mass. (theACC.com) - No. 1-seed Florida State defeated No. 8-seed Georgia Tech, 8-0, in six innings on Thursday, May 8, to kick off the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Championship Quarterfinals at the Harrington Athletics Village in Brighton, Massachusetts.

Following two innings of scoreless softball, Florida State’s Jahni Kerr hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third, scoring Isa Torres. In the very next at bat, Katie Dack sent one over the left-center fence to put the Seminoles up 3-0.

In the bottom of the fifth, Angelee Bueno singled to center field to score Kerr before Shelby McKenzie knocked a 3-runtriple to left field to score Jaysoni Beachum, Krystina Hartley and Dack. Michaela Edenfield hit a walk-off single to left center in the bottom of the sixth to score Torres and end the game, putting the Seminoles up 8-0 to run-rule the Yellow Jackets.

Due to a forecast for inclement weather on Friday afternoon in the Boston area, the 2025 ACC Softball Championship Semifinals will now take place at 10 a.m. ET and 12:30 p.m. ET on Friday, May 9.

The Seminoles advanced to the semifinals to take on the winner of No. 4-seed Duke and No. 5-seed Stanford on Friday, May 9, at 10 a.m. ET on ACC Network.
