CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference took home four of the nine 2024-25 ITA Division I Men’s National Awards on Friday, June 13, as Virginia’s Rafael Jódar was named the ITA Rookie of the Year, Florida State’s Corey Craig was tabbed ITA Most Improved Player, NC State’s Cris James was named the ITA Assistant Coach of the Year and Wake Forest’s Tony Bresky was voted the ITA Coach of the Year.
Joining the team in January, Virginia’s Jódar was named the 2025 ITA Division I Men’s Rookie of the Year after a dominant debut season. Following a loss in his first match, he went unbeaten through the rest of the regular season at No. 1 singles. A former Junior Grand Slam champion, Jódar earned ACC Rookie of the Year, First-Team All-ACC, and ITA All-American honors, finishing No. 4 in the ITA year-end rankings. He went 14-2 against ranked opponents, including a win over No. 1 Timo Legout of Texas, and helped lead Virginia to the NCAA Quarterfinals with a 23-8 record.
Named the 2025 ITA Division I Men’s Most Improved Player, Craig’s stellar season began in the fall when he reached the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Championship after entering as a wild card. Coming to Florida State from Boston University, Craig earned First-Team All-ACC honors in his first season in the ACC. Entering the fall unranked, Craig climbed as high as No. 9 in the ITA Singles Rankings in December and finished this spring ranked No. 16. Craig had 11 ranked wins on the year, including four top-25 wins in 2025.
Playing a pivotal role in NC State’s historic season this year, James has been named the 2025 ITA Division I Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year. This year, NC State had three NCAA Singles Championship qualifiers for the first time, reached a program-best No. 4 in the ITA rankings, and returned to the ITA Indoor Championships after a five-year absence. The team posted 14 ranked wins, including seven top-25 and four top-10 victories, and recorded a 13-match win streak in the spring.
Tabbed the 2025 ITA Division I Men’s Coach of the Year, Bresky led Wake Forest to a historic sweep of the ACC Regular Season, ITA National Team Indoor, and NCAA Championships in 2024-25. The Demon Deacons set a program and an ACC record with 40 wins, 25 of which came against ranked opponents, including 11 top-10 and 7 top-5 victories. Wake also set new marks in singles (138-42) and doubles (79-21) wins on the season. With 369 career victories, Bresky is now the winningest coach in program history.
Every year, the ITA recognizes coaches and student-athletes for their excellence both on the court and in their communities throughout the season.
The Division I national awards include ITA Coach of the Year, ITA Assistant Coach of the Year, Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award, ITA Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Award, ITA Rookie of the Year, ITA Most Improved Player, ITA Senior Player of the Year, ITA Player to Watch, and the ITA National Player of the Year.
