This Week in ACC Field Hockey

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – With a nation’s best 25 wins after the first two weeks of the season, including nine against nationally ranked opponents, Atlantic Coast Conference field hockey teams will resume action on Friday, September 12.

Five teams from the ACC are ranked in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll, with each team being slotted in the top six nationally. North Carolina leads the way at No. 2, followed by No. 3 Virginia, No. 4 Boston College, No. 5 Syracuse and No. 6 Duke.

Friday’s action is highlighted by a top-15 clash between in-state rivals No. 14 UMass and No. 4 Boston College at 5 p.m. ET on ACCNX. Also on Friday, No. 5 Syracuse will travel to No. 11 Princeton at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN+, while Louisville will host No. 1 Northwestern at 6 p.m. ET on ACCNX.

On Sunday, September 14, No. 2 North Carolina will play host to No. 9 Liberty for a top-10 matchup at noon ET on ACCNX. Louisville and Stanford will also meet ranked opponents, with the Cardinals hosting No. 15 Iowa at 1:30 p.m. ET, and the Cardinal squaring off with No. 7 Michigan at 3 p.m. ET.

Noting ACC Field Hockey

The ACC has won 25 matches throughout the first two weeks of the season, more than any other conference.
The ACC has posted a 12-5 record in the unofficial ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
ACC teams also boast eight ranked wins against the Big Ten.
All nine ACC teams rank in the top 20 nationally for overall strength of schedule.
Four ACC teams – Boston College, Syracuse, Virginia and Wake Forest – are allowing 1.00 goals per game or fewer this season.
Conference play begins on Friday, September 19, with eight of the nine ACC teams in action.
