This Week in ACC Wrestling

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – All seven ACC programs will be in action this weekend, January 16-18, highlighted by three marquee conference matchups as league competition continues to heat up.
 
The weekend slate opens Friday night with a pair of ACC showdowns. No. 12 North Carolina travels to Virginia for a 7 p.m. ET matchup, followed by a conference clash as No. 8 NC State visits No. 24 Stanford at 10 p.m. ET. The conference action concludes Sunday morning when No. 15 Pitt faces Duke at 11 a.m. ET. All three matches will be streamed on ACCNX.
 
In addition to the conference matches, No. 15 Pitt will host No. 22 West Virginia on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET, while No. 7 Virginia Tech will host Appalachian State at 7 p.m. ET also on ACCNX. On Sunday, No. 8 NC State will face off with CSU Bakersfield at 5 p.m. ET in non-conference action.
 
The ACC will welcome back its popular ACC Friday Night Duals beginning January 30. The series features four consecutive weeks of Friday night competition on ACC Network, including three conference matchups on January 30, February 6 and February 13, as well as a top-25 non-conference showdown on February 20.

Noting ACC Wrestling
  • Five ACC programs were once again ranked in the most recent NWCA Division I Men's Wrestling Coaches Poll (Jan. 13), with two teams ranked in the top 10: Virginia Tech (No. 7), NC State (No. 8), North Carolina (No. 12), Pitt (No. 15) and Stanford (No. 24).
    • The same five programs are also ranked in the FloWrestling Dual Team Rankings, the InterMat Dual Rankings and the WrestleStat Dual Rankings.
  • The conference once again boasts elite individual talent, with 44 ACC wrestlers ranked in the InterMat Individual Rankings (Jan. 13), ranking in the top 33 of their respective weight classes.
    • Six weight classes feature five ranked ACC athletes: 125, 133, 141, 157, 174, and heavyweight (285).
  • ACC programs have opened the 2025-26 dual season impressively, combining for a 42-21 dual match non-conference record over the first two months of the season.
  • The 2026 ACC Wrestling Championship heads to Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia, on Sunday, March 8, 2026, marking Virginia Tech’s first time hosting since 2019.
  • The 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Wrestling Championships will be held at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, from March 19–21, 2026.
