NC State’s Koy Buesgens Tabbed ACC Wrestler of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – NC State’s Koy Buesgens was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week for competition in Week 16 of the 2025-26 season, it was announced on Tuesday.

Koy Buesgens, R-So., 149 pounds, NC State (New Prague, Minnesota)
  • Scored a 6-3 sudden victory win over No. 2 Jaxon Joy of Cornell, handing Joy his first loss of the season (22-1).
  • His victory over Joy was the highest-ranked win of his career.
  • Improved his record to 20-2 on the season, including 15-2 in duals, 5-1 in the ACC and 5-2 versus ranked opponents.
  • Helped lead No. 8 NC State to a 19-18 win over Cornell.
  • NC State finished the regular season at 15-4 overall and 5-1 in the ACC.

The 2026 ACC Wrestling Championships will take place Sunday, March 8, at Virginia Tech, showcasing the conference’s top wrestlers in a full day of high-stakes competition. Action begins with first-round matches at 10 a.m. ET, followed by the consolation quarterfinals at 1 p.m. ET. The semifinals are set for 2 p.m. ET, with the consolation semifinals scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET and the consolation finals at 6 p.m. ET. The championship finals will take the mat at 8 p.m. ET, culminating in awards presentations to celebrate the ACC’s individual champions and team accomplishments.
