ACC Teams Open 2026 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament Play

• The ACC has a conference-record nine teams in the NCAA Tournament, breaking the conference’s previous record of eight teams set nine times since 2014.
• Clemson, Duke, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Virginia and Virginia Tech earned bids.
• Since 2018, the ACC has earned 65 bids to the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, the most among all conferences.
• The ACC has had at least eight teams in the NCAA Tournament in eight straight years (2018-2026; excluding 2020). That is the longest such streak among all conferences all-time – the next closest conference is the SEC with an active three-year streak (2024-2026).
• ACC teams are 60-15 (.800) in the Round of 64 over the last 10 NCAA tournaments (2015-2025; excluding 2020). That is the most wins by any conference in the round and the second-best winning percentage behind the Pac-12 (46-9, .836).
• ACC Women’s Basketball is in its 49th season of competition.
• ACC teams finished the regular season with a combined 144 nonconference victories.
• During the regular season, the ACC played 31 nonconference games against AP Top 25 opponents (32 against USA TODAY Coaches Poll teams), the most among peer power conferences.
• With 231 double-doubles this season, the ACC ranks second among all conferences, averaging 12.8 per team.
• In ACC play, road teams closed the regular season with an 80–82 record. It marks the best road record among peer power conferences (Big Ten: 75–87; SEC: 53–74; Big 12: 59–85).
• A conference-record four teams earned bids into the 2026 WBIT with three teams earning a top-four seed: Stanford (No. 2), Miami (No. 2), California (No. 3) and Georgia Tech. The four teams are tied for the most among all conferences.
• Wake Forest will play in the WNIT, making 14 of the league's 18 teams that will be playing in the postseason, tying for the most postseason teams among all conferences.

ACC Teams in the Rankings
• Four teams appear in the latest AP Poll: Duke (No. 8), Louisville (No. 13), North Carolina (No. 15) and Notre Dame (No. 22).
• The same four teams appear in the latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll: Duke (No. 10), Louisville (No. 14), North Carolina (No. 15) and Notre Dame (No. 25).
• The ACC entered the NCAA Tournament with 12 teams in the top 60 of the NET, tied for the second-most among all conferences: Duke (No. 8), Louisville (No. 11), North Carolina (No. 19), Notre Dame (No. 21), NC State (No. 26), Virginia (No. 36), Syracuse (No. 39), Virginia Tech (No. 40), Clemson (No. 41), Stanford (No. 44), California (No. 52) and Miami (No. 57).
• Four ACC teams finished in the top 25 of the WAB rankings: Duke (No. 10), Louisville (No. 11), North Carolina (No. 15) and Notre Dame (No. 22).

Ally ACC Women's Basketball Tournament
• Duke won the 2026 Ally ACC Women's Basketball Tournament on March 8, its second straight ACC title. The Blue Devils are the first team to repeat as ACC champions since NC State won three straight from 2020-22.
• After defeating Louisville in the first overtime championship game since 2009, the title was Duke's 10th all-time, tying Maryland for the most in ACC history.
• Duke became the first team to win the outright regular season and the tournament titles since NC State swept the awards in 2022.
• The ACC Tournament was held at Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia, marking the first time in the 49 years of the event the tournament was held at a neutral site outside the Carolinas.
• The 50th edition of the ACC Tournament will be held at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

ACC and the NCAA Tournament
• In 2025, Duke was the only ACC team to advance to the Elite Eight, as the league has sent at least one team in the Elite 8 for 23 straight seasons, the longest active streak of any conference. The next closest streak is 15.
• Duke, North Carolina, NC State and Notre Dame all clinched spots in the Sweet 16 of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. The ACC has had at least three teams make the Sweet 16 in each of the last 11 NCAA Tournaments (including 2025). That is the longest active streak among all DI conferences.
• Current ACC member institutions have combined for six NCAA Championships (Stanford 3, Notre Dame 2, North Carolina 1) and made 40 trips to the Final Four. Ten current ACC institutions have earned a spot in the Women’s Final Four.
• Current ACC teams have made eight trips to the Final Four in the last seven NCAA Tournaments.
• The ACC is tied for the most NCAA Tournament victories since 2014 at 141.
