CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke junior catcher and outfielder Cider Canon has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Clemson redshirt-senior left-handed pitcher Michael Sharman earned ACC Pitcher of the Week honors for games played February 23-March 1.
ACC Baseball Player of the Week
Cider Canon, C/RF, Jr. (San Marino, Calif.)
- Helped lead the Blue Devils to a four-win week, posting a .643 batting average.
- The junior hit four home runs, including two in Duke’s 6-2 win on Friday versus Princeton.
- Throughout the week, he posted a 1.571 slugging percentage and a 2.285 on-base plus slugging percentage.
- Swiped three bases offensively, while contributing a perfect fielding percentage, splitting time between catcher and right field.
ACC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Michael Sherman, LHP, R-Sr. (Woodstock, Ga.)
- Spun a complete game in Clemson’s 4-1 win over rival South Carolina on Saturday.
- Over 9.0 innings, he allowed just four hits, one run and no walks, while fanning four Gamecock hitters.
- Needed just 78 pitches in his complete-game effort, throwing strikes on 86 percent of his pitches.
- Improved to 3-0 on the season with a 0.90 ERA and a .104 batting average against.
