DULUTH, Ga. (theACC.com) – No. 11-seeded Georgia Tech used a strong first half and balanced scoring to secure a 72-60 victory over No. 14-seeded Florida State in Game 3 of the 2026 Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament on Wednesday, March 4, at Gas South Arena
With the victory, Georgia Tech (14-17) advances to the second round of the 2026 Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament to take on No. 6-seeded Virginia Tech on Thursday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Yellow Jackets shot 46.9 percent from the field and converted 22-of-26 free throws to lead for all but 55 seconds in the first-round game.
La’Nya Foster led the Yellow Jackets with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Erica Moon added 17 points and seven assists. Talayah Walker contributed 16 points and seven rebounds, and Ariadna Termis chipped in eight points. Georgia Tech controlled the glass with a 37-33 rebounding edge and capitalized on Florida State’s 21 turnovers.
Florida State (10-21) was paced by Sydney Bowles’ 16 points, while Pania Davis and Solè Williams added eight points each. The Seminoles shot 37.1 percent from the field and 20 percent from three-point range (4-of-20).
Florida State scored the first two baskets of the game to take a 4-0 lead with just over nine minutes to go in the opening quarter, only to see the Yellow Jackets answer with a 10-0 spurt to take a 10-4 lead midway through the period.
Georgia Tech pushed its lead out to double digits at 19-8 on a three-pointer from Termis and looked to pull away early, only to see the Seminoles score eight of the final 11 points of the first quarter to cut the Georgia Tech lead to six at 22-16 with three quarters to play.
The Seminoles would get to within three points of the Yellow Jackets twice to start the second quarter, yet saw the Yellow Jackets use second-chance points and the free-throw line to pull back out in front by 10 points, including a 39-29 halftime lead.
Georgia Tech extended its lead to as many as 14 points in the third quarter and never allowed the Seminoles to get closer than seven points down the stretch in the fourth quarter before the trio of Foster, Moon and Brianna Turnage combined to outscore the Seminoles 11-6 over the final four minutes of play to lead the Yellow Jackets to the win.
