CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina sophomore attacker Chloe Humphrey earned Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Boston College senior goalie Shea Dolce and Notre Dame sophomore midfielder Lila O’Brien shared the ACC Defensive Player of the Week distinction for games played from April 13-19 during the final week of the regular season.
Heading into the upcoming ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship, eight ACC women’s lacrosse teams are ranked among the top 20 teams in the latest IWLCA poll, the most among all conferences. Three ACC teams hold top 10 rankings, with North Carolina at No. 1, Syracuse at No. 6 and Clemson at No. 10. Also among the top 25: No. 11 Stanford, No. 12 Boston College, No. 16 Notre Dame, No. 19 Duke and No. 20 Virginia.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK – Chloe Humphrey, So., A, North Carolina (Darien, Connecticut)
• Recorded another big performance in UNC's 11-5 win over No. 20 Duke, tallying seven goals and three assists.
• Contributed to 10 of UNC's 11 goals in the contest.
• Also added a groundball and a caused turnover.
• On the season, Humphrey leads the nation in goals (79) and points (112) and her 33 assists are tied for 27th nationally.
CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK – Shea Dolce, Sr., GK, Boston College (Darien, Connecticut)
• Stepped up in the Eagles’ 7-4 win over No. 4 Syracuse, which snapped the Orange’s 12-game win streak, which was the longest active streak in the nation.
• Made eight saves with a season-high .667 save percentage, helping the defense hold Syracuse to a season low in goals.
• Made seven of her saves in the second half and also recorded a ground ball.
• Three of her saves came with BC leading by one goal; made a key stop late in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK – Lila O’Brien, So., M, Notre Dame (Bedford Corners, New York)
• Wreaked havoc on the defensive end, tying her career high with six caused turnovers while also grabbing three ground balls in Notre Dame’s 18-3 win over Louisville.
• Has now recorded back-to-back six caused turnover performances.
• Led a stingy Fighting Irish defensive effort that held Louisville to three goals, matching its season low.
• Notre Dame's scoring defense (7.31) is second in the ACC and fifth-best in the country.
