2026 ACC Softball Yearly Awards Announced

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Florida State took three of the five Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Yearly Awards, as Isa Torres was named the ACC Softball Player of the Year and ACC Defensive Player of the Year, Jazzy Francik was named the ACC Pitcher of the Year and Lonni Alameda was named the ACC Coach of the Year. Virginia Tech’s Bree Carrico was voted the ACC Freshman of the Year.

The awards and All-ACC Teams were selected following a vote of the league’s head coaches.

Against conference opponents, Torres hit .475 (38-for-80) with 10 home runs, 38 runs and 24 runs batted in. In conference competition, she ranks in the top five of the league leaders in batting average, slugging percentage (1.013), on-base percentage (0.571), runs scored (38), hits (38), triples (3) and home runs (10). At the end of the regular season, the Georgetown, Texas, native was ranked third in the nation in overall batting average (.547), fourth in on-base percentage (0.608) and fourth in runs per game (1.50). Torres cemented herself in the NCAA record books on March 20, becoming the first player in NCAA history to record 14 hits in 14 consecutive at-bats.

Defensively, Torres recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage for the Seminoles to be named the 2026 ACC Defensive Player of the Year. She totaled 27 putouts and 50 assists with zero errors from shortstop in league action this season.

Francik posted a 9-1 record in 63.2 innings of work in conference play this season, holding the second-lowest ERA in the league at 1.87. The Rockledge, Florida, native struck out 48 batters while holding conference opponents to a .170 batting average. Francik was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week three times this season.

Carrico was named the ACC Freshman of the Year for her work done in the circle this season, recording the third-lowest  ERA (1.93) in conference play. She finished conference play with a 6-1 record, totaling the fifth-most wins in the league. The Appomattox, Virginia, native struck out 49 batters at the plate and allowed just 14 earned runs. Carrico was also named to the 2026 ACC All-Freshman team.

Head Coach Lonni Alameda led the Seminoles to their ninth ACC Regular Season Championship title in 12 seasons after finishing the regular season with a 46-8 overall record and a 21-3 record in conference play. The Seminoles have been ranked in the top 15 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll for the entire season. Alameda ranks No. 12 of all NCAA Division I softball active coaches with a .721 (1014-392-3) career winning percentage. In 18 seasons at the helm of Florida State’s softball program, Alameda has registered an 857-234-2 (.785) record.

The All-ACC First Team is organized by position, made up of four infielders, three outfielders, three pitchers, one catcher and four “at-large” selections. Defensive position members on the All-ACC First Team must have played in at least 50 percent of the total conference games at those positions (infield, outfield and catcher).
