CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (theACC.com) - No. 3 seed Virginia Tech upset the No. 2 seed Blue Devils, 5-0, to clinch the final spot in the 2026 Allstate ACC Softball Championship game for the first time since 2012 on Friday, May 8, at Palmer Park in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The Hokies will face off against the No. 1 seed Florida State Seminoles in the title game on Saturday, May 9, at 2:30 p.m. ET. The championship game will be broadcast on ESPN.
All five runs came from home runs from four different Hokie players in the game, beginning with Michelle Chatfield’s 272-foot solo home run in the first inning. Nora Abromavage followed up in the top of the second with a solo homer of her own, putting the Hokies up, 2-0.
Rachel Castine then recorded the third solo home runof the day in the top of the sixth to extend the lead to 3-0. In the top of the seventh inning, Kylie Aldrigde ripped a two-run home run to right field to put the Hokies in front 5-0.
ACC Freshman of the Year Bree Carrico struck out four batters and allowed no runs in 5.2 innings pitched to earn her 14th win on the season. Emma Mazzarone came in to throw 1.1 innings, striking out three to earn the save.
