CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Two Atlantic Coast Conference men’s tennis teams advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championship, as Wake Forest and Virginia each earned super regional victories over the weekend.
The ACC regular-season co-champions will both play for a spot in the semifinals on Thursday, May 14, in Athens, Georgia.
No. 1 Wake Forest 4, No. 16 UCF 1
Top-seeded Wake Forest opened with dominant doubles wins on courts two and three to secure the point, then added straight-set singles victories from No. 125 Aryan Shah (6-0, 6-3) on court five, No. 38 Mees Röttgering (6-4, 6-1) on court two and No. 28 Luca Pow (6-2, 6-3) on court three to clinch a 4-1 win over No. 16 seeded UCF.
The Demon Deacons extended their winning streak to 49 matches—the longest active streak in the nation—and advanced to the quarterfinals for the third straight season, fourth time in five years and sixth in program history. Wake Forest will take on No. 8 seeded Arizona on Thursday.
No. 4 Virginia 4, No. 13 South Carolina 1
No. 4 seeded Virginia cruised to a 4-1 win over No. 13 seeded South Carolina at home to advance to the quarterfinals.
The Cavaliers secured the doubles point with wins on courts two and three, then opened singles play with back-to-back victories from No. 21 Keegan Rice (6-2, 6-3) and Stiles Brockett (4-6, 6-2, 6-1) for a 3-0 lead. After South Carolina got on the board, No. 114 Jangjun Kim (5-7, 6-2, 6-2) clinched the match on court three.
Virginia advances to the quarterfinals for the 19th time in the last 21 NCAA Championships and will face No. 5 seeded Mississippi State on Thursday in Athens.
