CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - The 73rd season of Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer kicks off on Thursday, August 20. All 15 programs start their regular seasons on either Thursday or Friday, August 21. League play begins on September 4.

ACC Network's season coverage also begins Thursday, as Clemson plays host to No. 3 Furman, which is coming off an NCAA College Cup appearance last season. Game time is 8 p.m. ET.

Four ACC teams are ranked in the Preseason United Soccer Coaches Poll: NC State (No. 2), Stanford (No. 9), Virginia (No. 11) and SMU (No. 15). That is the most of any league. Duke and North Carolina received votes in the preseason poll.

The first five days of the regular season feature nine matches against top-25 foes, including five on the road. That stretch concludes on Monday evening with a clash between top-15 preseason teams, as reigning ACC champion SMU travels to No. 4 Saint Louis at 8 p.m. ET.

Noting ACC Men's Soccer
• NC State has been chosen as the favorite to win the 2026 ACC Championship following a vote of the league’s 15 head coaches. The Wolfpack was picked as the ACC favorite on eight of the coaches’ ballots. (Release)
• A trio of former All-America honorees return this season, with Ransford Gyan (Clemson), Ulfur Bjornsson (Duke) and Stephan Soghomonian (SMU). Gyan was the 2024 ACC Freshman of the Year and the 2025 ACC Midfielder of the Year.
• Four ACC players were named to the 2026 Hermann Trophy Watch List: Ransford Gyan (Clemson), Joschi Schelb and Ryan Zellefrow (UNC) and Noah Holmstrom (SMU).
• Nine ACC teams earned berths in the 2025 NCAA Championship, including four teams among the 16 seeded teams. Both totals were most of any league.
• With NC State advancing to the national championship game in 2025, at least one ACC team has reached the Men's College Cup in 23 of the last 25 seasons. 
• NC State played in the national championship game for the first time in program history and reached the NCAA College Cup for just the second time (1990).
• Thirteen of the 15 active league programs have reached the Men's College Cup. 
• A record-tying 25 ACC players were chosen in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft, including a record 13 in the first round. Four of the top five selections came from the ACC, including No. 1 pick Nikola Markovic of NC State.
• Six active ACC head coaches have won D-I national championships as a head coach: Mike Noonan (Clemson), Carlos Somoano (UNC), Jay Vidovich (Pitt), Jeremy Gunn (Stanford), Ian McIntyre (Syracuse) and George Gelnovatch (Virginia). NC State's Marc Hubbard won a Division II national title in 2013.
• ACC teams have won 20 NCAA men’s soccer championships, with 11 since 2001, including three of the last five (Clemson 2021, Syracuse 2022, Clemson 2023).
