CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Week four of the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball season will kick off with the 2026 “Showdown at the Net,” set for September 8-9, which will feature 16 of the 18 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) volleyball programs taking on teams from the Southeastern Conference (SEC), including a neutral-site event between four nationally recognized programs. The ACC will play six straight days of volleyball this week.
The neutral-site event, named the Shiners Children’s “Showdown at the Net” volleyball tournament, will return on Wednesday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex – State Farm Fieldhouse in Kissimmee, Florida, featuring an all-ranked doubleheader between five-time consecutive Final Four participant No. 2 Pitt versus No. 17 Tennessee, who has reached five straight NCAA Tournaments, at 6:30 p.m. ET, followed by nine-time NCAA champion No. 4 Stanford against defending national champion No. 19 Texas A&M at 9 p.m. ET. Both neutral-site matches will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
Wednesday will feature two other ranked matchups as No. 18 North Carolina travels to No. 3 Kentucky at 6 p.m. ET (SECN) and No. 8 SMU hosts No. 9 Texas at 9 p.m. ET on ACC Network. The final ranked matchup of the week will take place on Friday, September 11, as No. 4 Stanford heads to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to take on No. 12 Penn State at 6 p.m. ET on BTN.
Pitt led all ACC teams at No. 2 in the AVCA/Taraflex Week 2 Poll and was followed by Stanford (No. 4), Louisville (No. 5), SMU (No. 8) and North Carolina (No. 18). The ACC leads all conferences with three teams ranked in the top five.

Noting ACC Volleyball
- The ACC is 13-1 against top 25 ranked teams.
- Pitt’s Babcock was named the AVCA Division I National Player of the Week on August 26.
- Pitt led the ACC in the No. 4 spot in the AVCA/Taraflex Preseason Poll and was followed by Stanford (No. 5), Louisville (No. 7), SMU (No. 11) and North Carolina (No. 19) filling out the rest of the top 25. This year marks the first season since 2017 that the Tar Heels were ranked in the preseason poll.
- Stanford was voted the preseason favorite to win the 2026 ACC Volleyball Championship for the first time since joining the league by the league’s volleyball head coaches.
- Eight ACC standouts were named to the AVCA Division I Player of the Year Watch List. The list included Louisville’s Nayelis Cabello and Chloe Chicoine, Pitt’s Olivia Babcock and Izzy Starck, SMU’s Favor Anyanwu and Suli Davis, and Stanford’s Lizzy Andrew and Logan Parks.
- Duke’s Ahen Kim and Florida State’s Lindsay Allman are each entering their first season as head coaches of their respective programs.
