GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com)—Atlantic Coast Conference schools Virginia and Syracuse earned invitations to the 2018 NCAA Rowing Championship which will be held May 25-27 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida, the NCAA announced Tuesday.
 
Virginia, which captured its ninth straight ACC Rowing Championship last Sunday to claim the ACC’s automatic bid, earned its 12th straight invitation to the NCAA Rowing Championship and 21st in the last 22 years.
 
The Cavaliers, coached by ACC Coach of the Year Kevin Sauer, are ranked seventh nationally and captured NCAA Rowing titles in 2010 and 2012.
 
Syracuse, which received an at-large bid, is making its third straight appearance in the NCAA Championship and fourth overall. The Orange, coached by Justin Moore, finished 13th the past two years and place 12th in 2002 as a member of the Big East Conference.
 
In all, ACC teams have claimed 10 individual championship events, the most recent a 2015 national title by Virginia’s First Varsity Four.
 
In the event seedings, Virginia was seeded 11th in the First Varsity Eight, third in the Second Varsity Eight and fourth in the First Varsity Four.
 
Syracuse was seeded 16th in the First and Second Varsity Eights and 15th in the First Varsity Four.
