Florida State, North Carolina Earn Swimming and Diving Weekly Laurels

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State’s Peter Varjasi has been named ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, and North Carolina’s Anton Down-Jenkins repeats as Diver of the Week. Florida State’s Jenny Halden has been named ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week, and North Carolina’s Emily Grund received Diver of the Week honors.
 
A sophomore from Erlangen, Germany, Varjasi won all four of his events in the meet against TCU. The Seminole placed first in the 50 and 100 free and was part of the first-place 200 medley and 200 free relay teams.
 
Down-Jenkins finished first in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events in the meet against Duke. The junior from Wellington, New Zealand, scored a 401.33 on the 1-meter and a 422.85 in the 3-meter competition.
 
A native of Kongsberg/Bærum, Norway, Halden won all four events she swam in against TCU. The freshman placed first in the 50 and 200 free, as well as the 100 fly and was part of the first-place 200 medley relay team.
 
Grund finished first in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events against Duke. The junior from Keller, Texas, scored a 308.85 in the 1-meter competition and a 363.15 on the 3-meter effort of 363.15.
