GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State's Petra Hule and Miami's Daevenia Achong have been named the Co-Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Players of the Week, and Virginia Tech's Charlotte Cartledge has been selected the league’s Freshman of the Week.
Hule, a native of Adelaide, Australia, led the Seminoles to a win over No. 10 Duke with a straight-set (7-5, 6-4) victory over 20th-ranked Georgia Drummy at the top singles position. She also teamed with Anna Arkadianou to post a 6-2 win at the No. 1 doubles spot. Two days later, Hule scored another top 20 victory with a 6-1, 6-4 win over No. 12 Cameron Mora of North Carolina. Hule, who is ranked No. 15 in the ITA national rankings, has now won 11 of her 12 singles matches this spring.
Achong, a native of Geleen, Netherlands, also topped Duke's Drummy (6-3, 5-7, 6-0) and posted a win over 16th-ranked Elizabeth Scotty (6-4, 7-5) of North Carolina. In the Hurricanes' 4-3 win over No. 10 Duke, she teamed with Eden Richardson to clinch the doubles point with a 6-4 win over the 75th ranked doubles team in the nation.
Cartledge, a native of Roanoke, Virginia, secured the first two ACC wins of career with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Notre Dame's Meghan Coleman and a 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Louisville's Tyra Richardson. Her win over Richardson clinched the Hokies' 4-3 decision over the Cardinals.
