Duke’s O’Neill, Syracuse’s Mark Earn ACC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke junior attackman Brennan O’Neill was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Syracuse senior goalie Will Mark earned Defensive Player of the Week in the first ACC weekly men’s lacrosse honors for the 2023 season.

A native of Bay Shore, New York, O'Neill became the fastest player in program history and the 22nd overall to reach 100 career goals as Duke raced past Bellarmine, 19-7. O'Neill added a career-high five assists to go with his two goals for his 12th career game with at least five points. He was also credited with two caused turnovers.

In his Syracuse debut, Mark racked up 13 saves in a 7-5 victory over Vermont. A native of Danville, California, Mark surpassed the 500 career save benchmark in his first game while helping hold Vermont to well below its goals per game average from last season (13.21). Mark finished with a .722 save percentage while holding the Catamounts to one first-half goal and zero goals in both the second and fourth quarters. He had two stretches of 20 minutes without a goal allowed.
