CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Atlantic Coast Conference men's soccer moves into its seventh of nine weeks of league play this weekend with five matches on Saturday, October 19.
The featured match of the weekend is a top-10 showdown between No. 4 Pitt and No. 7 North Carolina at 6 p.m. Saturday in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The Panthers currently stand in a three-way tie with Clemson and Stanford atop the conference with 12 points, while UNC is just behind with 10 points.
In another top-25 match, No. 10 SMU travels to No. 23 NC State at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Seven ACC teams are ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, including five in the top 10. Both totals are the most of any conference. Stanford is No. 2 nationally and is followed by Pitt (4), UNC (7), Clemson (8), SMU (10), Duke (11) and NC State (23).
In the latest NCAA RPI on Thursday, nine ACC teams rank among the top 30, led by Stanford at No. 1 and followed by Pitt (2), Duke (5), UNC (9), SMU (12), NC State (17), Clemson (19), Virginia Tech (22) and Virginia (26).

Noting ACC Men's Soccer
• Featuring a 15-team field for the first time, the ACC Tournament begins Wednesday, November 6. The No. 1 seed earns a first-round bye, while the No. 2 through No. 8 seeds host first-round matches.
• ACC teams are 66-14-25 (74.8%) in non-conference play, best of any league this season.
• ACC teams have held the No. 1 national ranking in six of nine polls this season (Pitt 3, Clemson 2, Stanford 1).
• 13 of the 15 ACC teams have been ranked for at least one week.
• The NCAA DI Men's Soccer Committee will release a midseason top 16 ranking on Sunday during halftime of the Penn-Cornell match, set for Noon ET and broadcast on ESPNU.
• Clemson head coach Mike Noonan won his 400th career game on Tuesday with the Tigers' 4-2 victory over Queens.
• Five ACC schools have completed their non-conference schedules: North Carolina, Pitt, SMU, Syracuse and Wake Forest.
• Four ACC teams rank among the top 25 nationally in scoring offense: Duke (1st, 3.42), Clemson (7th, 2.42), Pitt (12th, 2.31), UNC (16th, 2.23) and Notre Dame and Virginia Tech (T20th, 2.17).
• Pitt ranks fourth nationally in scoring defense (0.62), while Stanford and Virginia Tech are tied for 16th (0.75).
• Notre Dame's Matthew Roou ranks second nationally in goals per game (1.0) and total goals (12). Duke's Ulfur Bjornsson and UNC's Martin Vician (10) are tied for seventh in total goals, while Duke's Adam Luckhurst (9) is 13th and Pitt's Luis Sahmkow (8) is 19th.
• Clemson won its fourth national championship to cap the 2023 season – its second title in three years – downing ACC rival Notre Dame, 2-1, in the title game of the NCAA Men's College Cup.
• ACC teams have won 20 NCAA men’s soccer championships, with 11 since 2001, including the last three (Clemson 2021, Syracuse 2022, Clemson 2023).
• Eight active ACC programs have won at least one national championship, the most of any conference. The 15 active ACC schools have combined for 20 titles.
• Virginia has won seven NCAA men's soccer championships, which is third most all-time. Clemson (4), Stanford (3), North Carolina (2), Duke (1), Notre Dame (1), Syracuse (1) and Wake Forest (1) also have won titles.
• Six active ACC head coaches have won D-I national championships as a head coach: Mike Noonan (Clemson), Carlos Somoano (UNC), Jay Vidovich (Pitt), Jeremy Gunn (Stanford), Ian McIntyre (Syracuse) and George Gelnovatch (Virginia). NC State's Marc Hubbard won a Division II national title in 2013.
• Thirteen of the 15 active league programs have reached the Men's College Cup. Sixty-five ACC teams have reached the Men's College Cup all-time.
• Two ACC teams advanced to the Men's College Cup in each of the last five tournaments. The ACC has had at least one team in the College Cup in 22 of the last 23 seasons.
