ACC Announces Men’s Soccer Players of Week Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – California sophomore midfielder Junhwan Park and Virginia Tech senior forward Declan Quill shared Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Cal junior defender D’Andre Pickett claimed ACC Defensive Player of the Week laurels for matches played from October 27-31, as announced Tuesday.

Junhwan Park, So., M, California (Guri-si, South Korea)
• Scored the game-winning goal in Cal's 1-0 upset of top-ranked Stanford on Friday, October 31 at Edwards Stadium in Berkeley, California.
• The win marked the Golden Bears' first home victory of the season and also kept the Cardinal from capturing the ACC regular-season title.
• It was Park’s third straight game with a goal, and the three goals are Park’s first as a Bear, as he transferred to Cal after playing his freshman season at San Francisco.

Declan Quill, Sr., F, Virginia Tech (Falls Church, Va.)
• Named ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week.
• Had a hand in all three of Virginia Tech’s goals as the Hokies rallied from a two-goal deficit for a 3-3 draw at Clemson on October 31.
• Finished the match with a goal and two assists for four points. He tied for fourth in the ACC leaderboard for goals (4) in conference play while tied seventh in assists (3).

D’Andre Pickett, Jr., D, California (Tucson, Ariz.)
• Pickett marshalled a Cal backline that stymied top-ranked Stanford in the Golden Bears' 1-0 upset win on October 31 in Berkeley.
• While Stanford outshot Cal 14-3, his crunching tackles and savvy helped to limit the quality scoring chances of a Cardinal attack that ranks fourth in the ACC in goals scored in conference games (13), ranks fifth in the ACC in goals scored in all games (32) and ranks fifth in the ACC in goals per game in all games (2.00).
