CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Six Atlantic Coast Conference teams are set for a busy slate of competition leading into the holiday break, with multiple ranked matchups and challenging dual matches on deck.
No. 16 North Carolina will hit the road for the first time this season, traveling to face No. 6 Nebraska on December 19 before taking on No. 12 Northern Iowa on December 21. No. 23 Stanford heads to Nashville, Tennessee, to compete in the Collegiate Wrestling Duals, where it will face North Dakota State and No. 1 Penn State on December 20, while No. 19 Pitt will host Edinboro on Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Duke will compete at the Norman Duals hosted by Oklahoma on Sunday, December 21, with matchups against Southern Illinois, Tarleton State and No. 15 Oklahoma, while No. 9 NC State returns home the same day to host a quad meet featuring Buffalo, George Mason and The Citadel.
Virginia will participate in the Bucknell Quad in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, on December 21, facing Hofstra, Bucknell and Morgan State, before traveling to face Penn on Monday, December 22.
Noting ACC Wrestling
- For the eighth straight week, the ACC had five teams ranked in the top 25 of the NWCA Division I Men's Wrestling Coaches Poll (Dec. 16): Virginia Tech (No. 7), NC State (No. 9), Pitt (No. 14), North Carolina (No. 16) and Stanford (No. 23).
- The conference once again boasts elite individual talent - 44 ACC wrestlers appear in the InterMat Individual Rankings (Dec. 16), landing in the top 33 of their respective weight classes. Six weight classes feature five or more ranked ACC athletes, signaling broad, top-to-bottom strength at 125, 133, 141, 165, 174 and heavyweight (285).
- ACC programs have opened the 2025-26 dual season impressively, combining for a 32-14 record through the first part of the season.
- Virginia head coach Steve Garland is sitting on 199 career wins. He will have the chance to win No. 200 on Sunday, December 21, as the Cavaliers take on Hofstra, Bucknell and Morgan State in a quad meet.
- The 2026 ACC Wrestling Championship heads to Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia, on Sunday, March 8, 2026, marking Virginia Tech’s first time hosting since 2019.
- The 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Wrestling Championships will be held at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, from March 19–21, 2026.
