This Week in ACC Softball

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Clemson and Florida State begin super regional play on Thursday, May 22, to kick off the 2025 NCAA Division I Softball Super Regionals.

Super Regionals will be held May 22-25 on eight campus sites. At each site, two teams play in a best-of-three tournament format. The winners from each Super Regional advance to the NCAA Women’s College World Series from May 29-June 5/6 at Devon Park, formerly the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

No. 11-seed Clemson will take the field at Red & Charline McCombs Field in Austin, Texas, against No. 6-seed Texas in the Austin Super Regional at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2 with Game 1 of the three-game set. The Tigers clinched their spot in the Supers after sweeping through the Clemson Regional, capped off by a 5-1 victory over Kentucky in the regional final.

No. 5-seed Florida State will begin its Super-Regional campaign against No. 12-seed Texas Tech in the Tallahassee Super Regional at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The Seminoles advanced to the Supers for the 11th time in 12 seasons after going 3-1 in the Tallahassee Regional, headlined by a 4-0 win over Auburn in the “If Necessary” game.

  • Clemson won its first ever ACC Softball Championship title on Saturday, May 10, after taking down No. 1-seed Florida State in the title game.

  • Virginia Tech’s Emma Lemley leads NCAA Division I Softball in active career strikeouts with 849. 
  • No. 19 Clemson defeated No. 1 Tennessee on Tuesday, April 22, to defeat the No. 1 overall team for the first time in program history. 
  • Duke’s Marissa Young recorded her 300th career win on Wednesday, April 23. 
  • Virginia Tech’s Emma Lemley and Cori McMillan and Duke’s Ana Gold have received The ACC had four players selected in the 2025 Athletics Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) College Draft on Saturday, May 3.
    • Virginia Tech’s Emma Lemley and Cori McMillan were both drafted making the Hokies the only ACC program, and just one of two programs in the nation, with two players taken in the draft. Both Hokies were both drafted in the first round, as the Blaze took Lemley third overall and the Bandits took McMillan fourth.
    • Florida State’s Michaela Edenfield was taken by the Volts in the second round as the eighth overall pick, while Duke’s Ana Gold was taken ninth overall as the first pick in the third round by the Blaze.
