ACC Announces Field Hockey Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina forward Ryleigh Heck and Wake Forest forward Lauren Storey were named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Offensive Players of the Week for field hockey, while Wake Forest goalkeeper Ellie Todd was selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for matches played between September 15-21.
 
Ryleigh Heck, Sr., Forward, North Carolina (Ocean City, New Jersey)
  • Matched North Carolina’s program record with five goals in Sunday’s win over Stanford.
  • Her five goals were the most by a Tar Heel since 2015.
  • Also logged two goals in the Tar Heels’ win over California.
  • Added an assist in both wins throughout the week.
  • Finished the week with 16 points.
 
Lauren Storey, So., Forward, Wake Forest (Auckland, New Zealand)
  • Delivered the game-winning goal in overtime as Wake Forest downed No. 4 Syracuse on the road.
  • Added an assist on Wake Forest’s fourth-quarter goal, helping spark the Demon Deacon comeback.
  • Scored a goal in Wake Forest’s 2-1 win over No. 13 Boston College on Sunday.
  • Finished the week with five points while aiding the Demon Deacons to a pair of top-15 wins.
 
Ellie Todd, Sr., Goalkeeper, Wake Forest (Boston, Mass.)
  • Helped the Demon Deacons open ACC play with back-to-back top-15 wins.
  • Made five saves to pave the way for Wake Forest’s overtime win at No. 4 Syracuse.
  • Logged a season-high eight saves against No. 13 Boston College on Sunday, holding the Eagles scoreless for nearly 50 minutes.
  • Helped Wake Forest to its first 2-0 start in ACC play since 2017.
 
Noting ACC Field Hockey
  • Six ACC field hockey teams are ranked in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll, including four teams in the top 10 nationally.
  • Two of the seven remaining undefeated teams throughout the country hail from the ACC in North Carolina and Virginia.
  • Four ACC teams – Boston College, Duke, North Carolina and Virginia - rank in the top 10 nationally in goals against average.
  • Three ACC teams – North Carolina, Syracuse and Wake Forest – rank in the top 10 nationally in scoring margin.
