ACC Women's Basketball Recap - January 25

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – California, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami and North Carolina earned victories on Sunday. 

North Carolina 77, Syracuse 71 (OT) | Box Score | Highlights
  • North Carolina's Nyla Harris scored five of her team-high 21 points in overtime to pace the Tar Heels to their fourth straight win.
  • Harris finished 8-of-13 (61.5 percent) from the field and also grabbed 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
  • Including Harris, four Tar Heels finished in double figures, as Lanie Grant knocked down five 3-pointers and closed with 17 points, while Reniya Kelly added 11 points and Indya Nivar totaled 10 points.
  • Freshman Uche Izoje led Syracuse with 27 points and 12 rebounds in 41 minutes, recording her ninth double-double of the season.
Clemson 65, Notre Dame 58 | Box Score | Highlights
  • After outscoring Notre Dame 25-9 in the third quarter, Clemson held on for its first win in South Bend since the 2019-20 season.
  • Taylor Johnson-Matthews scored a team-high 18 points off the bench on 7-of-8 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 mark from 3-point range.
  • The Tigers outrebounded the Fighting Irish, 40-20, as Clemson grabbed 14 offensive rebounds that led to 20 second-chance points.
  • Notre Dame's Hannah Hidalgo led all scorers with 30 points and added four rebounds, six assists and eight steals. The 30-point effort was her sixth of the season.

Miami 75, SMU 66 | Box Score | Highlights
  • Facing a 13-point deficit at halftime, Miami outscore SMU 41-19 in the second half to snap its two-game losing skid.
  • Amarachi Kimpson registered her second straight 20-point outing, leading all players with 23 points, including 18 in the second half.
  • Gal Raviv and Ahnay Adams posted 18 points apiece, with Adams’ total marking a season high.
  • Four Mustangs finished in double figures led by Zahra King's 18 points.
     
Georgia Tech 80, Florida State 69 | Box Score | Highlights
  • Sophomore Talayah Walker registered her seventh 20-point performance in her last nine games, leading all scorers with 24 points to lift Georgia Tech past Florida State.
  • On the glass, Brianna Turnage matched a season high with 18 rebounds, tying her total set against Clemson on January 11 for the highest mark in an ACC game this season.
  • Georgia Tech connected on 26-of-32 (81.3 percent) from the free throw line, tying for the most free throw attempts in a league game this season.
  • Sole Williams led Florida State with 18 points, while Pania Davis finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.

California 78, Stanford 71 (OT) | Box Score | Highlights
  • Lulu Twidale knocked down two key 3-pointers and finished with 10 points in overtime to help seal California's third win over Stanford in the last four meetings.
  • Twidale recorded a game-high 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting, while adding four rebounds and three assists.
  • Taylor Barnes added 15 points, while Sakima Walker totaled 13 points on 5-of-8 from the floor. Gisella Maul, who played all 45 minutes, posted eight points and eight boards.
  • Lara Somfai and Alexandra Eschmeyer each tallied 16 points for the Cardinal, as Somfai knocked down a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime.
