CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Seven Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer league matches are scheduled from Friday through Sunday, as conference play passes the halfway point with the fifth of nine weekends of action.
ACC Network features the Commonwealth Clash on Friday at 8 p.m. ET, as Virginia plays host to rival Virginia Tech.
After rising to No. 1 nationally this week, SMU puts its unbeaten record on the line on Friday at 7 p.m. ET on the road at Wake Forest, which has won its last three matches. The Mustangs have won their last four contests, including a 3-0 ACC triumph at Virginia Tech last Sunday.
No. 10 Pitt heads to Syracuse on Friday at 7 p.m. ET. Both teams have won three consecutive matches.
Winners of four straight games, No. 9 Clemson steps out of league play on Friday evening with a home matchup against No. 20 UNCW.
Six ACC teams are ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll. That is tied for the most of any league: SMU (1), Clemson (9), Pitt (10), Notre Dame (13), Stanford (14) and Louisville (17).

Noting ACC Men's Soccer
• Six ACC teams are ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll. That is tied for the most of any league: SMU (1), Clemson (9), Pitt (10), Notre Dame (13), Stanford (14) and Louisville (17).
• SMU rose to No. 1 nationally this week for the first time this season. This is the first time the Mustangs have been ranked No. 1 in the nation since November 7, 2006.
• SMU is the second ACC team to earn a No. 1 national ranking this year. Stanford was No. 1 for four weeks.
• In the latest NCAA RPI of the season, released Thursday, six ACC teams are among the top 30, which is the most of any conference: Clemson (2), Pitt (4), SMU (8), Notre Dame (17), Louisville (22), Syracuse (24) and Boston College (30).
• SMU (8-0-1) is one of seven teams nationally that have yet to lose a match this season. The Mustangs lead the nation in scoring defense (0.33) this season.
• Virginia head coach George Gelnovatch currently owns 399 career wins and is poised to join Duke's John Rennie (1979-2007, 410 wins) as the ACC's lone men's soccer coaches to win 400 career games.
• ACC teams are 60-16-13 (.747) against non-conference competition this season. The winning percentage and total number of wins both are the best of any conference.
• Since Sept. 1, league teams have posted a 26-2-5 (.864) record against non-conference foes.
• League programs have scored three wins against top-five foes: Stanford vs. No. 2 San Diego, Clemson vs. No. 3 Furman, SMU at No. 4 Saint Louis.
• Clemson's Ransford Gyan earned ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors, while SMU's Enzo Panozzo notched ACC Defensive Player of the Week laurels for matches played from September 21-27.
• NC State was chosen as the favorite to win the 2026 ACC Championship following a vote of the league’s 15 head coaches. The Wolfpack were picked as the ACC favorite on eight of the coaches’ ballots.
• Six active ACC head coaches have won D-I national championships as a head coach: Mike Noonan (Clemson), Carlos Somoano (UNC), Jay Vidovich (Pitt), Jeremy Gunn (Stanford), Ian McIntyre (Syracuse) and George Gelnovatch (Virginia). NC State's Marc Hubbard won a Division II national title in 2013.
• Nine ACC teams earned berths in the 2025 NCAA Championship, including four teams among the 16 seeded teams. Both totals were most of any league.
• With NC State advancing to the national championship game in 2025, at least one ACC team has reached the Men's College Cup in 23 of the last 25 seasons.
• ACC teams have won 20 NCAA men’s soccer championships, with 11 since 2001, including three of the last five (Clemson 2021, Syracuse 2022, Clemson 2023).
