CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Pitt redshirt-senior outfielder Lorenzo Carrier has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Wake Forest junior right-handed pitcher Blake Morningstar earned ACC Pitcher of the Week honors for games played March 2-8.
ACC Baseball Player of the Week
Lorenzo Carrier, Pitt, OF, R-Sr. (Bear, Del.)
- Went 13-for-15 (.867) on the week with 19 RBI, 10 runs scored, five home runs, two triples, one double and 33 total bases.
- Slugged 2.200 with a 3.095 on-base plus slugging percentage in Pitt’s 4-0 week.
- Opened the Panthers’ series against San Jose State with a two home-run, eight RBI day.
- Followed with a five-hit, five-RBI day on Saturday.
- Has paced the Panthers to eight consecutive wins.
ACC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Blake Morningstar, Wake Forest, RHP, Jr. (Wyalusing, Pa.)
- Opened ACC play with a win and a career-high 11 strikeouts against Stanford.
- Scattered just two hits and one run allowed over 6.0 innings of work.
- He did not allow a base hit over the final 17 batters that he faced.
- Has now fanned 20 hitters in his last two starts, going at least 6.0 innings in each appearance.
