This Week in ACC Rowing

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – A big weekend lies ahead for multiple Atlantic Coast Conference rowing teams, as Lake Wheeler, the site of the 2026 ACC Rowing Championship, will host the two-day Lake Wheeler Invitational, beginning Friday, April 24.

Eight ACC teams will compete at the Lake Wheeler Invitational this weekend, including No. 8 Virginia, No. 13 Duke and No. 14 Miami, as 20 teams from across the country make the trek to Raleigh, North Carolina. Lake Wheeler will host the 26th annual ACC Championship, beginning May 15, marking the third time the venue has hosted the regatta.

Also in action, top-ranked Stanford will host No. 2 Texas in a dual at Redwood Shores on Saturday, April 25. The Cardinal (15 first-place votes) and Longhorns (10) combined for all 25 first-place votes in the latest CRCA Coaches Poll.

Syracuse will head to the Wolverine Double Dual in Ann Arbor, Michigan, competing against No. 16 Ohio State and No. 17 Michigan, while Notre Dame will travel to the MACRA Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana.

ACC Notes
  • A nation-best seven ACC teams earned spots in the latest Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Coaches Poll, released on April 21, led by defending national champion Stanford at No. 1. Following the Cardinal were No. 7 California, No. 8 Virginia, No. 10 Syracuse, No. 13 Duke, No. 14 Miami and No. 22 North Carolina.
  • Headlined by a pair of victories at the Big Ten Invitational, the California Varsity Eight was named the ACC Crew of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
  • The ACC announced its second annual Rowing Watch List on February 25, consisting of one student-athlete from each ACC school. Duke’s Lena Mills became the second rower in league history to make the Preseason Watch List twice.
  • Last season, in its first ACC Rowing Championship, Stanford took home the conference title, setting Grand Final record times in each event. The Cardinal went on to claim the league’s third rowing national championship all-time.
  • The 2026 ACC Rowing Championship, set for May 15-16, returns to Lake Wheeler in Raleigh, North Carolina, for the third time in four years.
