CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (theACC.com) - No. 10 seed North Carolina upset the reigning ACC Champion Tigers, taking down No. 7 seed Clemson, 4-2, in the third game of the 2026 Allstate ACC Softball Championship on Wednesday at Palmer Park in Charlottesville, Virginia.
North Carolina (32-18) clinched a spot in the quarterfinals set for Thursday, May 7, at 5 p.m. ET. The Tar Heels will face off against No. 2 seed Duke on ACC Network.
Sanaa Thompson headlined the Tar Heel’s offense, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a run scored and an RBI. The other two runs came off of Lexie Roberts and Emily LeGette. Jil Livengood earned the win in the circle, allowing just one hit in 4.0 innings pitched.
