CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (theACC.com) - No. 6 seed Virginia closed out the first day of the 2026 Allstate ACC Softball Championship with a walk-off win over No. 11 seed Pitt, 2-1, on Wednesday, May 6, at Palmer Park in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The Cavaliers (38-12) will take the field against No. 3 seed Virginia Tech on Thursday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m. ET in an in-state quarterfinal showdown. Virginia versus the Hokies will be broadcast on ACC Network.
Macee Eaton tied the ballgame up in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo home run, her 12th of the season, to tie the game up at 1-1.
With the game still tied in the bottom of the seventh, Virginia’s Kelsey Hackett put down a bunt to score Kamyria Woody Giggetts for the 2-1 walk-off win. Eden Bigham picked up the win in the circle, striking out seven batters and allowing just two hits and no runs in 4.0 innings pitched.
