Kinneman and McKendry Earn ACC Baseball Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – NC State’s Brett Kinneman has been voted the ACC Baseball Player of the Week, while Miami’s Evan McKendry was selected as Pitcher of the Week.

ACC weekly honors are determined by a vote of a select media panel. This is the first career weekly league honor for both players.

Kinneman hit a career-high five home runs during the week to take over the ACC lead in that category and tie for second nationally. The junior outfielder from York, Pennsylvania, hit for the home run cycle, hitting a grand slam on Tuesday, and a two-run and three-run homer on Friday before hitting solo home runs on Saturday and Sunday.

Kinneman tallied 15 RBI to lead the Wolfpack to a perfect 5-0 record during the week and take over the conference lead in total RBI with 17 for the season. Kinneman also scored seven runs, hit a triple and stole two bases. For the week, he was 13-of-21 to compile a .619 batting average at the plate and also made a few nice catches defensively. His 15 hits for the season ranks among the top 10 of the NCAA.

McKendry won a pitcher's duel with the most impressive outing of his career to help Miami win the series finale and hand No. 1 Florida its first loss of the season. The sophomore from Pembroke Pines, Florida, twirled six efficient innings, needing just 87 pitches and striking out eight batters for the second straight start. Florida’s first hit did not come until the fifth inning, and the sophomore allowed just two hits and two walks on the afternoon to lead Miami to victory.
