Clemson, Louisville Earn First-Round Wins in ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson and Louisville notched first-round wins Sunday in the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Championship. The No. 9 seed Cardinals earned their first-ever ACC Tournament win, prevailing at No. 8 Virginia Tech, 13-11. No. 7 Clemson also picked up its first tournament win in program history, holding off No. 10 Pitt, 18-15, in Clemson, South Carolina.
 
Louisville advances to play top-seeded Syracuse in the quarterfinals at 11 a.m. Wednesday at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Tigers move on to face No. 2 seed Notre Dame at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The quarterfinals, semifinals and championship game will be contested in Charlotte from April 24-28, with ACC Network broadcasting each matchup.
 
All-Session ticket books for the ACC Championships in both men’s and women’s lacrosse are available for $50 and can be purchased HERE. All-Session passes are good for all 10 games in the ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship as well as the ACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship, which will be held May 3 and 5 in Charlotte. 
 
Individual Session tickets for the ACC Championship are available online HERE. One ticket gains admission for all of the games on that respective day. Children 2 and under are admitted free of charge.

No. 9 Louisville 13, No. 8 Virginia Tech 11
Nicole Perroni had a big day to lead Louisville (8-10) to the road win over Virginia Tech (9-9) in Blacksburg, Virginia. Perroni scored four goals and recorded an assist and also piled up four ground balls, three caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls. Kokoro Nakazawa added a hat trick for the Cardinals. Louisville’s defense also forced 15 Virginia Tech turnovers. Lauren Render (five goals) and Paige Tyson (four) combined for nine of the Hokies’ 11 goals.
 
No. 7 Clemson 18, No. 10 Pitt 15
Clemson (11-6) scored 10 of its 18 goals from the free position in downing Pitt (5-13). Regan Byrne recorded five goals, while Natalie Shurtleff posted a hat trick. Sydney Naylor scored four goals to pace the Panthers, while goalkeeper Audrey Moran piled up 13 saves.
