ACC Announces Field Hockey Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina forward Charly Bruder was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for field hockey, while Duke goalkeeper Kaiya Chepow was selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for matches played between October 13-19.
 
Charly Bruder, Forward, Jr., North Carolina (Malvern, Pennsylvania)
  • Scored four goals in the Tar Heels’ road wins over No. 9 Syracuse and Cornell.
  • Added a pair of assists, including one in each game.
  • Scored a hat trick in last Friday’s come-from-behind win over Syracuse.
  • Found the back of the cage for the game-winning goal with just 19 seconds remaining to overcome a 3-1 deficit.
  • Notched the opening goal in North Carolina’s 8-1 win over Cornell on Sunday.
 
Kaiya Chepow, Goalkeeper, So., Duke (Downington, Pennsylvania)
  • Allowed just one goal in a pair of road games to help the Blue Devils go 2-0 against Boston College and UConn.
  • Logged nine saves throughout the weekend, including a career-high six against Boston College.
  • Posted her fourth shutout of the season against UConn, making three saves.
 
Noting ACC Field Hockey
  • North Carolina is ranked No. 1 in the country in the most recent Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches’ Poll, marking the first time this season in which an ACC team has held the top spot.
  • Five ACC teams appear in the NFHCA poll with all five being ranked inside the top-10 nationally.
  • Wake Forest remains the lone undefeated team in ACC play, sitting at 6-0 in league play.
  • The ACC boasts the top overall and non-conference RPI as a league.
  • The ACC Field Hockey Championship will begin on Tuesday, November 4, in Louisville, Kentucky. The eight-team field will compete in a single-elimination tournament with the ACC Championship Game slated for Friday, November 7, at 3 p.m. ET.
