CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Five Atlantic Coast Conference programs earned bids to the 2025 NCAA Field Hockey Championship, with the full field announced on Sunday evening. The ACC’s five selections mark the most of any conference.
After winning its 28th ACC Championship, North Carolina (19-1) earned the No. 1 overall seed nationally. The 10-time national champions will meet the winner of Drexel and St. Joseph’s in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. North Carolina’s second-round matchup is slated for noon ET on Friday, November 14. North Carolina will be making its record 42nd appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Virginia (16-2) will host Miami (Ohio), which won the MAC for the eighth-consecutive season, in the second round, beginning at noon ET on Friday. The Cavaliers, who finished as the runner-up in the 2025 ACC Field Hockey Championship, will compete in the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in 10 seasons. Northwestern and Yale will also head to Charlottesville, Virginia, for the Virginia Regional. This is the seventh time Virginia has hosted first and second-round matches, most recently in 2019.
Duke (12-7) will meet Iowa, which fell in the Big Ten championship game, on Friday in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Duke will be making its 21st appearance in the NCAA Tournament field and second consecutive postseason appearance. The Blue Devils and Hawkeyes will meet at 2:30 p.m. ET on Friday.
Wake Forest (15-4) will travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts, to face Big East runner-up UConn. The Demon Deacons return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2021 and 18th time in program history. Wake Forest and UConn will begin their NCAA Tournament runs on Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Syracuse (12-6) will square off with Liberty, which won the Big East title, in its NCAA Tournament opener. The Orange and Flames will head to Princeton, New Jersey, for the Princeton Regional, and will play on Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET. The Orange will make their 19th all-time appearance in the tournament and their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the past five years.
The ACC landed multiple teams in the NCAA field for the 31st consecutive year. This marks the 12th time in the last 13 seasons that at least four conference teams have earned NCAA bids. The ACC’s five selections this season are the most of any conference.
First round matches will be played on Wednesday, November 12, at two of the first-and second round sites. Second round and quarterfinal matches will be played on four campus sites November 14 and Sunday, November 16. Duke will host the national semifinals on Friday, November 21, and the championship final on Sunday, November 23, at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.
