North Carolina Moves on to the Semifinals of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship

WACO, Texas (theACC.com) – The 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Champions and fifth-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (26-4) posted a 4-2 win over No. 13-seed LSU (24-8) on Thursday, May 15, to advance to the Final Four of the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championship at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.

The Tar Heels won the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead, then overcame an injury to ACC Player of the Year Reese Brantmeier in singles play to win three of the next four singles matches to push their winning streak to 12 straight and advance to their first semifinal appearance since 2023.

North Carolina reached its seventh final four (2010, 2014, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 20025) overall and its fourth trip to the semifinals in the last five years.

The Tar Heels will take on the No. 1-seed Georgia Bulldogs (27-3) on Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m. ET. Earlier this season, the Tar Heels earned a 4-3 indoor win over the top-ranked Bulldogs in Athens, Georgia, on February 1.

No. 8-seed Duke (24-4) lost to the Bulldogs, 4-1, in the first match of the day to see the Blue Devils’ season come to an end.

Sam Gore and Luke Jensen will be on the call during the Saturday semifinal matches, all on ESPN+.

This year’s team championship is part of a two-year pilot program in which the NCAA singles and doubles championships were moved to the fall (beginning in 2024).
