2025 NCAA Tournament Bracket
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina will play for an NCAA National Championship on Sunday, May 25, as the Tar Heels rolled to a semifinal victory on Friday, May 23, in the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The top-seeded Tar Heels dominated No. 4 seed Florida, 20-4, to earn their sixth championship-game appearance in program history.
UNC will play No. 3 seed Northwestern, which topped No. 2 seed Boston College, 12-11. The championship game is slated for Sunday, May 25, at noon ET on ESPN. The Tar Heels and Wildcats matched up in the regular season, with UNC prevailing on the road, 15-12, on March 27 in Evanston, Illinois.
North Carolina is vying for its fourth national championship (2013, 2016, 2022). Since the league began sponsoring women's lacrosse in 1997, ACC teams have won 13 national titles, and UNC is the 29th ACC team to make a championship game appearance. At least one ACC team has played in the national title game in 15 of the last 16 seasons.
Trailing 4-2 after one quarter, North Carolina (21-0) unleashed an avalanche, outscoring the Gators 10-0 in the second quarter and a combined 18-0 over the final three quarters in a dominating performance. Redshirt freshman Chloe Humphrey scored a career-high seven goals on just nine shots for UNC. Ashley Humphrey recorded four assists, while Marissa White scored a hat trick.
Boston College’s season came to an end with its 12-11 loss to Northwestern, as the Wildcats scored the game’s final six goals to rally for the win. Mckenna Davis scored a hat trick and recorded two assists, while Rachel Clark also scored three goals. Emma LoPinto scored two goals and added three assists for Boston College (19-3). Shea Dolce made 11 saves for the Eagles, who appeared in Championship Weekend for the eighth straight tournament.
