CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Conference play opens this week in Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer, as 13 matches kick off league action beginning Wednesday, September 10.
ACC Network will broadcast three conference matchups this week, starting Wednesday when Miami visits No. 18 Wake Forest for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff.
On Thursday, September 11, seven league matches are scheduled, headlined by a top-5 showdown featuring No. 2 Duke and No. 5 Virginia at 7 p.m. ET on ACC Network Extra. Also on Thursday, No. 3 Stanford travels east to face Clemson on ACCN at 6 p.m. ET.
The week’s conference schedule concludes on Sunday, September 14 with five league matches and four non-conference tilts, as ACCN will broadcast California at Clemson at 1 p.m. ET.
Noting ACC Women’s Soccer
• ACC teams have recorded 76 non-conference wins this season, the most of any conference.
• ACC programs own a 15-9-7 (.597) record against Power Four opponents and are 5-2-5 (.625) against ranked teams.
• Louisville sophomore midfielder Amelia Swinarski and Notre Dame sophomore forward Annabelle Chukwu have been named the ACC Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while California senior goalkeeper Teagan Wy was selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for matches played between September 1-7.
• A nation-best seven ACC teams are ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, including five teams in the top 10: Duke (No. 2), Stanford (No. 3), Virginia (No. 5), Notre Dame (No. 6), Florida State (No. 7), Wake Forest (No. 18) and North Carolina (No. 19). Clemson, Louisville and Virginia Tech are receiving votes.
• Five ACC teams are in the top 10 nationally in total goals, as no other conference has more than two teams in the top 10. The leaders include Louisville (No. 1 – 37 goals), Stanford (No. 2 – 30), North Carolina (No. 7 – 24) and Notre Dame and Virginia Tech (tied at No. 9 – 22).
• Virginia’s Lia Godfrey has played in 91 matches, the most among all active Division I players.
• The 2025 Preseason ACC Coaches Poll and All-ACC Team were announced on Thursday, August 7, as North Carolina was selected as the conference favorite.
• A total of 14 players were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team, including 2024 first-team selections Cameron Roller (Duke), Jordynn Dudley (Florida State), Kate Faasse (North Carolina), Izzy Engle (Notre Dame) and Leah Klenke (Notre Dame).
• North Carolina claimed its 23rd national championship with a 1-0 victory over Wake Forest in the final of the 2024 Women's College Cup. The title was UNC's 22nd NCAA championship after winning the AIWA National Championship in 1981.
• The title was the ACC's 26th women's soccer national championship. Current membership has combined to win 32 national championships (North Carolina - 22, Florida State - 4, Stanford - 3, Notre Dame - 3). No school outside the ACC has won more than two national titles.
• For the first time in Women's College Cup history, the ACC sent all four teams to the national semifinals, as Duke, North Carolina, Stanford and Wake Forest all advanced. It marks the first time a conference has sent four teams to the Women's College Cup.
