CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Leading the nation in victories after two weeks of the regular season, Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer returns with 28 matches on tap this week beginning on Wednesday, August 27.
ACC teams have compiled 42 victories this season, the most of any conference. With its strong start, the league placed a nation-best eight teams in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, including Stanford claiming the No. 1 spot. This marks the third different ACC team to be ranked No. 1 in the last three weeks.
This week’s schedule features a pair of ranked matchups, as No. 3 Duke heads to No. 8 Arkansas for a top-10 clash on Thursday, August 28, at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network Plus. On Sunday, August 31, No. 13 Virginia welcomes No. 16 Georgetown for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff on ACC Network Extra.
Noting ACC Women’s Soccer
• ACC teams have recorded 42 non-conference wins this season, the most wins nationally.
• Excluding non-conference matches between ACC teams, the league’s .807 winning percentage is the best in the nation. In addition, ACC teams hold a .667 winning percentage against Power Four opponents.
• ACC teams have posted a 7-6-2 record against Power Four conference opponents.
• Louisville senior forward Mackenzie Geigle has been named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week, while Virginia junior goalkeeper Victoria Safradin was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played August 18-24.
• A nation-best eight teams are ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, including Stanford holding the top spot. Following the Cardinal is Duke (No. 3), Florida State (No. 6), Notre Dame (No. 6), Virginia (No. 13), Wake Forest (No. 19), North Carolina (No. 22) and Virginia Tech (No. 24).
• In the last 24 weeks of the United Soccer Coaches Poll, dating back to 2023, an ACC team has been ranked No. 1 in all but two polls.
• The 2025 Preseason ACC Coaches Poll and All-ACC Team was announced on Thursday, August 7, as North Carolina was selected as the conference favorite.
• A total of 14 players were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team, including 2024 first-team selections Cameron Roller (Duke), Jordynn Dudley (Florida State), Kate Faasse (North Carolina), Izzy Engle (Notre Dame) and Leah Klenke (Notre Dame).
• North Carolina claimed its 23rd national championship with a 1-0 victory over Wake Forest in the final of the 2024 Women's College Cup. The title was UNC's 22nd NCAA championship after winning the AIWA National Championship in 1981.
• The title was the ACC's 26th women's soccer national championship. Current membership has combined to win 32 national championships (North Carolina - 22, Florida State - 4, Stanford - 3, Notre Dame - 3). No school outside the ACC has won more than two national titles.
• For the first time in Women's College Cup history, the ACC sent all four teams to the national semifinals, as Duke, North Carolina, Stanford and Wake Forest all advanced. It marks the first time a conference has sent four teams to the Women's College Cup.
