CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – A dozen league matchups are on the docket this week in Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer, as the conference heads into the final month of the regular season.
This week’s slate begins on Wednesday, September 24, with a top-25 showdown as No. 22 North Carolina travels to No. 2 Notre Dame for a 6 p.m. ET kickoff on ACC Network. The Tar Heels look to bounce back after suffering a 1-0 setback to No. 7 Florida State last week, while the Fighting Irish are a perfect 2-0 in ACC play following a win over No. 3 Duke last Thursday.
On Thursday, September 25, another pair of top-25 teams collide when No. 19 Wake Forest visits No. 9 Duke for another edition of the in-state rivalry. Both teams look to return to the win column following the Blue Devils’ defeat to Notre Dame and the Demon Deacons’ scoreless draw at Boston College last Sunday. Kickoff on ACC Network Extra is set for 7 p.m. ET.
The week closes on Sunday, September 28, with another ACCN broadcast as Notre Dame visits Clemson for a 6 p.m. ET kickoff.
Noting ACC Women’s Soccer
• ACC teams finished the non-conference portion of the regular season with 81 victories, tied for the most among all conferences.
• ACC teams went 15-9-7 (.597) against Power Four opponents and finished 5-2-5 (.625) against ranked teams.
• Notre Dame sophomore forward Annabelle Chukwu has been named the ACC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while NC State senior goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played September 15-21.
• Tied for the most among all conferences, seven ACC teams are ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, including the top three spots: Virginia (No. 1), Notre Dame (No. 2), Stanford (No. 3), Florida State (No. 6), Duke (No. 9), Wake Forest (No. 17) and North Carolina (No. 22). California and Louisville are receiving votes.
• Eight ACC teams are in the top 25 of the latest RPI rankings, including six in the top 10: Virginia (No. 1), Wake Forest (No. 5), Duke (No. 6), Notre Dame (No. 7), Florida State (No. 8), Stanford (No. 9), North Carolina (No. 11) and Louisville (No. 22).
• Five ACC teams are in the top 15 nationally in total goals: Louisville (No. 1 – 39 goals), Stanford (No. 2 – 38), Florida State (No. 8 – 28), Notre Dame (No. 11 - 27) and North Carolina (No. 15 - 26).
• Three ACC players are in the top 10 in total goals: Izzy Engle (Notre Dame), Wrianna Hudson (Florida State) and Olivia Thomas (North Carolina) are tied for sixth nationally with eight goals apiece.
• Four ACC players are in the top 10 in total points: Amelia Swinarski, Louisville (1st - 23), Kat Rader, Duke (9th - 19), Izzy Engle, Notre Dame (10th - 18) and Olivia Thomas, North Carolina (10th - 18).
• Virginia’s Lia Godfrey has played in 94 matches, the most among all active Division I players.
• The 2025 Preseason ACC Coaches Poll and All-ACC Team were announced on Thursday, August 7, as North Carolina was selected as the conference favorite.
• A total of 14 players were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team, including 2024 first-team selections Cameron Roller (Duke), Jordynn Dudley (Florida State), Kate Faasse (North Carolina), Izzy Engle (Notre Dame) and Leah Klenke (Notre Dame).
